it’s a piano.
if it looks like this it’s a steel guitar.
It’s a lap steel guitar, sometimes called a Hawaiian guitar . Here’s some info about it -
You could also be talking about a pedal steel guitar, it’s kind of similar -
Steel guitar or pedal steel guitar.
Steel guitars have no pedals, but are still played with a slide or plucked by the fingers with or without a pick. these are found primarily in Polynesian or Hawaiian music, but is seen in country as well.
The pedal steel, as its name indicates, is equipped with a series of pedals which allows for quick transposition into other keys or “bending” notes or whole chords, used primarily in country music.
Pedal steel guitar. Look for videos on Youtube that have Robert Randolph playing. Matthews has toured with him and plays on Randolph’s new album. Robert Randolph & The Family Band are a lot of fun live too.
Also look for The Campbell Brothers. They play gospel music that some call Sacred Steel.
Pedal steel guitar is also used in country music. A good musician is Buddy Emmons who’s been a fine player since the 60’s.
